From the 8th to the 10th of November 2024, ELSA Kent collaborated with Kent Model United Nations (KENTMUN), offering law students the opportunity to join the legal committee of the Kent Model United Nations Conference held in Kent, UK. Participants engaged in dynamic debates on universal jurisdiction in international law, tackling pressing global issues over three intensive days. The sessions culminated in the successful passage of a resolution.
Angelica Ivana Ascolese (delegate of France) received the Best Progress Award for her impressive growth throughout the sessions.
Rona Goldenblatt (delegate for China) received the Most Outstanding Delegate.
Sophie Schuster (delegate of UK) was awarded Most Diplomatic for her outstanding collaboration and negotiation skills.
Naitan Negara (delegate of US) earned Best Delegate for his exemplary leadership and legal expertise.
A keynote address by Andrew Flagg, Coordinator at the World Bank, added further distinction to the event. His insightful discussion on climate change emphasised the critical role of legal frameworks in addressing global crises and provided delegates with meaningful perspectives.
This Kent MUN conference was an invaluable opportunity for ELSA members to develop skills in diplomacy, critical thinking, and teamwork while deepening their understanding of the United Nations. The collaboration fostered significant engagement with global legal matters and strengthened participants’ professional foundations.
